Beholding the Appearance of God in His Judgment and Chastisement

    Like the hundreds of millions of others who follow the Lord Jesus Christ, we abide by the laws and commandments of the Bible, enjoy the abundant grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and gather together, pray, praise, and serve in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ—and all this we do under the care and protection of the Lord.  We are often weak, and we are also often strong. We believe that all of our actions are in accordance with the teachings of the Lord. It goes without saying, then, that we also believe ourselves to be on the path of obedience to the will of the Father in heaven. All this we take as a given, as something to be expected.

Almighty God says, “When God becomes flesh this time, His work is to express His disposition, primarily through chastisement and judgment. Using this as the foundation, He brings more truth to man, shows more ways of practice, and so achieves His objective of conquering man and saving man from his corrupt disposition. 　　From this verse, we can see God hopes that we can rely on and believe in Him in everything. Then when things befall us, God will surely show us the way and guide us. However, many times, we cannot see God’s deeds because of our little faith in Him. When we are faced with some matter, we don’t rely on God but do things depending on our own ability. And we really feel pained when the results are not as we wished. Not until we meet with difficulties do we come before God, pray to Him and entrust our difficulties to Him. This reminds me of a passage of God’s words, “So there is a very important lesson to be learned here. What is this lesson? It is that people need to look to God in all things and, by looking to God, they achieve a reliance on God. Only by relying on God do people have a path to follow. Otherwise, they can do something correctly and in conformity with the principles of the truth, but if they don’t rely on God, then what they do is just man’s deed, and it does not necessarily satisfy God.” From God’s words, we can see that only firmly believing in God and acting according to His will in all things are something that a creature should do and that God approves.

　I was born into a Catholic family, and from an early age my mother taught me to read the Bible. At the time, the Chinese Communist Party was re-building the nation after the civil war, and as the CCP was suppressing all religions, I was 20 years old before I finally got the chance to go to church and listen to sermons. The priest often said to us: “We Catholics must properly confess our sins and repent. We must do good, not evil, and always go to Mass. During the last days, the Lord is going to come and judge everyone and send people to heaven or to hell according to how they have acted and behaved on earth. The biggest sinners will be punished in hell eternally, whereas those who commit minor sins can still go to heaven as long as they confess their sins to the Lord and repent. Anyone who doesn’t believe in the Lord will never get to heaven, no matter how good they are.” Whenever I heard this, I always congratulated myself for having the good fortune to be a member of the Catholic congregation from birth. I’d always tell myself to pursue hard, attend Mass more, and confess sins and repent to the Lord more, and that way I’d go to heaven and not suffer in hell. So that’s when I developed the determination to go to church and participate in Mass regularly. At that time, the priest also told us that in 2000 the Lord would return, and this news made us all very excited. So we all began to pursue earnestly, waiting for the Lord’s return. But the year 2000 came and went and we didn’t see any sign of the Lord’s return. Many in our congregation lost their faith, and fewer and fewer people attended church for Mass. I also felt a sense of loss, but I still felt that my faith in the Lord wouldn’t be shaken, no matter what others did. That was mainly because there had been many times when I’d been in danger and the Lord had protected me and made the danger disappear. Without the Lord’s protection I’d have died long ago, so I wasn’t going to be so ungrateful as to lose faith in the Lord.

God’s work is already nearing the end. To each and every person, God asks: “To Whom Are You Loyal?” This question from God stirs people’s hearts and people begin to examine themselves. Perhaps people have never been serious about themselves, but this time around, people should be serious about themselves. God defines who belongs to Him in terms of who is loyal to Him and so determines the outcome of each person. This makes sense. If you are loyal to God, you of course belong to God, and are gained by God. This kind of person will receive God’s praise. If you are loyal to God, you must have enough good deeds to serve as proof and cannot rely on mere words nor thoughts. So what does it mean to be loyal to God? Loyalty to God means that, in all matters, one chooses God. One loves God, one only worships God, and one can obey and be loyal to all that comes from God. One can reject and throw off Satan, the flesh, and varied people and things and not be restrained by them. One abandons everything in order to expend for God like this. Those that are loyal to God are so because God holds a place in their hearts. Therefore, they love God and do their duties without other things restraining them. They do not feel taxed in carrying out the truth to the point that they will remain loyal even unto death and will not betray God. Those that have other loves are never able to overcome being restrained by people, issues and things. They therefore have difficulty carrying out the truth and this is completely natural. In times of great tribulation, those that fulfill their duties have possessed some of these kinds of situations and born witness to loyalty to God. But they are still not perfect and they must continue to work hard. Those that perform their duties only in a perfunctory manner don’t demonstrate any observable loyalty and bearing witnessing is therefore absent in them and much greater efforts are needed to make this up. Testimony of loyalty to God is the testimony of the victorious and only the victorious really become perfected and are praised by God. If one seeks to be loyal to God, then one must cast off all things in order to fulfill one’s duties, including the world, including one’s family, including one’s husband or wife, children, mother and father so as to be completely loyal to God. This is the only true expression of loyalty to God. God does not use regulations to restrain people, and all that people do should be based on faith and on true love for God. If you want to be loyal to God, then you must put aside all else and do everything in order to satisfy God. I think this is completely reasonable and isn’t too great of a demand. People’s principles of practice depend upon faith and on God’s demands at different times. The final moment is not a trivial time. At this critical moment, if one can’t be loyal to God, then one will regret one’s entire life. The victorious are “they which follow the Lamb wherever he goes,” “they loved not their lives unto the death,” “they have a share in the adversity, kingdom, and patience of Christ.” This is testimony of one’s loyalty to God, the testimony of the victorious, and worthy of God’s praise. How God perfects the victorious is what He demands from people; people should understand God’s heart. The last stage of testimony is done in this way. What one practiced in the past has not met the mark.

How I Nearly Became a Foolish Virgin

　　In the fall of 2002, Sister Zhao from my denomination, the Church of Truth, brought her niece, Sister Wang, to my home to tell me some great news that the Lord has come back. After a few days of reading the words of Almighty God and listening to the sister’s detailed fellowship, I understood that from the creation of the world until now God has performed three stages of work in order to save mankind. Other truths that I also came to know were God’s adoption of a different name during each stage of the work, the significance of God’s name for each age, and the mystery of God’s incarnation, etc. These truths really allowed me to open my eyes wide and see my fill. I said to myself: “It all sounds crystal clear, and Almighty God very probably is the returned Lord Jesus so I’d better make sure I grasp this chance and read more of Almighty God’s words.” Before leaving, Sister Wang left some books of God’s words for me. Whenever I had time during the day, I read God’s words. The more I read the more I loved reading them and the more I felt that they were the words of God. After three days I became anxious. I thought: “My son, who is also a believer, and many brothers and sisters in our church still don’t know this great news about the return of the Lord. I’d better hurry up and tell them.”

　　The next day early in the morning I went to my son’s home. I said happily to him: “This is such a great book. You should read it as soon as possible.” My son glanced at me and asked: “What book? You seem pretty delighted. Just put it down there and I’ll take a look at it when I have time.” I thought that as all believers were looking forward to the Lord’s return my son would be happy to learn that the Lord has already returned.

　On that day, it started raining in the morning. I went to a meeting at a brother’s house, while the rain kept getting heavier and heavier. By afternoon it was pouring down as though straight from the heavens. By the time we finished our meeting, the rain had entered my brother’s courtyard, but because I was worried about my family, I struggled on home. Halfway there, some people fleeing the danger said to me, “Are you not running away, are you still going home?” When I got home, my child asked, “Did the flood not wash you away?” Only then did I know that I didn’t have God in my heart. Not long after, the husband of my neighboring sister climbed up onto the roof, and saw that houses not far from our own had been washed away. The current was getting stronger, and the sister’s husband insisted that they lead their child up to the mountain, but she wouldn’t go. We few sisters discussed it amongst ourselves, that the sister’s husband arguing like this contained God’s will; only then did we follow him to a railroad house on the mountain top to spend the night. There, we heard from those who had fled the disaster how turbulent the floodwaters were, and how people had gone in all directions; some had climbed the rooftops, some were washed away, some were stopped by trees …

　The next day I went to see a sister. Her house was by the riverside, with a big road in front and the river behind. Her house was right in the center of the two converging sides of the floodwaters. When the flood came, this sister prayed to God, and relied on Him. The waters washed away all the other houses in her row, leaving only hers and one other unscathed while she slept a sound night’s sleep. I truly saw that when one has God’s protection, one can rest easy in their heart.

China’s deteriorating freedom of religious belief has long been a focus of the international community, which has repeatedly condemned the Chinese Communist government. The suppression and persecution of religious belief by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has continued to escalate since Xi Jinping took power. On June 27, a conference entitled Freedom of Religion or Belief and The Right to Asylum: The Case of China was held at the European Parliament in Brussels. During the conference, it was reported that freedom of religious belief in China has reached its worst level since the Cultural Revolution. At least 1.5 million people—including Xinjiang Muslims, Tibetan Buddhists, Catholics, Protestants, and Christians from The Church of Almighty God (CAG)—have been arrested and sent to prison or re-education camps for no reason other than their faith. The conference also pointed out that the CCP’s systematic persecution suffered by The Church of Almighty God Christians has been especially severe. These Christians have been arbitrarily detained, tortured, and imprisoned; some have even died or been left disabled as a result of their mistreatment. It was because of humanity’s corruption that God was taken from His rest, and it was also because of the archangel’s rebellion that God was taken from His rest. If God does not defeat Satan and save humanity, which has been corrupted, God will never again be able to enter into rest. As man lacks rest, so does God. When God once again enters into rest, man will also enter into rest. The life in rest is one without war, without filth, without persisting unrighteousness. This is to say that it lacks Satan’s harassment (here “Satan” refers to hostile forces), Satan’s corruption, as well as the invasion of any force opposed to God. Everything follows its own kind and worships the Lord of creation. Heaven and earth are entirely tranquil. This is humanity’s restful life. When God enters into rest, no more unrighteousness will persist upon the earth, and there will be no more invasion of any hostile forces. Humanity will also enter a new realm; they will no longer be a humanity corrupted by Satan, but rather a humanity that has been saved after having been corrupted by Satan. Humanity’s day of rest is also God’s day of rest. God lost His rest due to humanity’s inability to enter into rest; it was not that He was originally unable to rest.
